“There is nowhere more magical than New York in the snow.”
She’ll risk everything for her own Christmas miracle…
Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list–dealing with Madi’s temporary dog sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.
Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi–how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple–he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide twenty-four-hour care. But there’s nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.
Ethan’s kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all–letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?
I love Christmas. I love dogs. I love New York City. So when I read the synopsis on Sarah’s newest book I knew I would probably…well, LOVE it! And I did! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Harriet and Ethan. Harriet is a shy young woman who lacks confidence. Knowing her background it’s easy to understand why. But finally trying to build her confidence and do things outside of her comfort zone was so admirable and inspiring. If only we all could make like Harriet more often and challenge ourselves, even if it does result in jumping out the bathroom window in an effort to get away from a bad date.
And then there was Ethan, or should I say, Dr. Hot. The ER doctor that Harriet meets one fateful night. I am always up for a bit of sexy doctor time. As much as Harriet was doing some self growth, Ethan had his own set of troubles he needed to work through as well. I liked watching them come together and become their best selves when they were together.
Throw in a spunky doggy and some delicious chocolate chip cookies and I had a great time reading this book front to back. Sarah’s writing is easy and quick and I am looking forward to reading more of her books. I actually wasn’t aware this was one in a series as it reads completely as a standalone, but I will be looking into the others to add to my collection.
There wasn’t much wrong with this book, the only reason I don’t have it as a five star read is while it was cute and romantic, it wasn’t anything especially unique. Overall, well worth the read and perfect to get in the mood for the holiday season!
