Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren *Review*

Thank you so much Gallery Books for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  I have never read anything by Christina Lauren but I had heard good things about this book and was excited to get to it.  I end up loving this book.  It was my favorite read of August and it was easily 5 full stars.  I laughed almost every page and loved all the characters.  Its fair to say I will be picking up a bunch more of Christina’s books now!

Goodreads Synopsis

Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.

Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.

Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?

My Experience

From the first chapter I connected with Hazel.  She is one of those characters where most readers will relate to her or if they don’t they’ll at least really like her.  She’s fun and unique and her dialog is so spot on and hilarious.  Josh is an equally great character and I loved their relationship so much, they were made for each other.  I think this romance really stuck with me because it as just so enjoyable to read.  I felt happy the whole way through this book and giggled and swooned right along with the characters.  Josh and Hazel are hands down one of my top favorite bookish couples and I just want so many books about them!

The writing was well done, it sucked me and made me feel like I was watching these characters come to life.   The writing also made for a very quick read as I didn’t want to put it down and I finished this book in a day.

I can’t recommend this book enough.  A perfect contemporary romance to brighten up your day! Be sure to pick this one up!
