What Blooms From Dust by James Markert *Review+Book Tour*

Thank you so much TLC Book Tours for sending me copy of this book and for having me on this book tour!

From the second I started reading this book I had a southern twang voice in my head narrating as I read.  I loved that this book sucked me in to the Dust Bowl era and Midwestern vibe.  Slow moving but filled with hope and forgiveness I gave this book 3.5 stars.

Us Against You by Fredrik Backman *Review+Book Tour*

I cannot thank Atria Books enough for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and for having me on this book tour!  I won’t lie when I say I was scared to start this book.  It is one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 and I LOVED Beartown.  So like any true sequel I worried it wouldn’t be as good as the first.  I also was scared of all the emotions Backman was about to put me through.  But I did it, I just dove in and I fell in love all over again, with his writing, these characters, and this story.  From chapter one I was already tearing up, Backman’s writing is by far some of the best writing I’ve ever read and Us Against You is no different, it is Backman at his best.  I give this 5 whole stars.

“We are the bears! We are the Bears! We are the Bears! The bears from Beartown!”

My Name is Venus Black by Heather Lloyd *Review*

Thank you so much Penguin Random House for sending me a copy of My Name Is Venus Black in exchange for an honest review.  This debut novel was emotional, full of second chances and forgiveness, I really enjoyed it and gave it four stars!

“The stupidest little thing we do can alter the future for so many people.  That means everything you ever did, you almost didn’t do.”

Beartown by Fredrik Backman *Review*

This book, wow, I finished over a week ago and yet I couldn’t get myself to write a review right away.  It still brings tears to my eyes and tugs on my heartstrings.  I almost don’t know how to review this because any review I write will be insufficient.  This story is powerful, emotional, and important.  Characters written only the way Backman can write them, a story line that draws you in slowly and impacts you for long after, and an author that is nothing short of inspiring.  Another favorite book has been added to my shelf, 5 whole beautiful stars.

“You might be playing with bears. But that doesn’t mean you have to forget that you are a lion.”

Following four best friends over the course of many years, this book explores hard topics such as abuse, miscarriages, and betrayal, but even more importantly tells the story of love, friendship, and family.  I give this genuine story of friendship standing the test of time 4 out of 5 stars!

I will say I wasn’t sure about this book at first since it took me a while to really get into it, but by the end I was so invested in these characters that my emotions were all over the place.  I rate this beautifully touching coming of age romance 4 out of 5 stars!

Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu *Review*

Is that Cinderella’s castle?! Why yes, yes it is.  I recently went on a trip to Disney and the only book I brought along, to be read on the flights only cause um.. Disney World, was Batman Nightwalker by Marie Lu the second in the DC Icons series.  I was so excited to get this book when it came out that it was a wonder I waited until my trip to read it.  Batman is my ALL time favorite super hero.  I have always loved the comics, shows, and movies.  I love all the villains and heros that make up the city of Gotham.  That is why it really saddens me to say I was completely underwhelmed by this book and only rate it 3 stars.  Quite honestly I think its only that high just for the sole reason that this is a Batman book and I didn’t have the heart to rate it lower.
