Uprooted by Naomi Novik *Review*

Huge thank you to Random House for sending me a copy of Uprooted in exchange for an honest review.  This has been on my TBR for years and I am so glad I finally got to it, I loved it!  This book is whimsical and beautiful, breathing new life into an old classic.  It felt entirely like its own story while having small traces of being a retelling.   Uprooted read like a fairytale mixing in action, adventure, romance, and danger, all flowing perfectly to create a master piece.  I give this 4.5 stars!!

“There was a song in this forest, too, but it was a savage song, whispering of madness and tearing and rage.”

My Name is Venus Black by Heather Lloyd *Review*

Thank you so much Penguin Random House for sending me a copy of My Name Is Venus Black in exchange for an honest review.  This debut novel was emotional, full of second chances and forgiveness, I really enjoyed it and gave it four stars!

“The stupidest little thing we do can alter the future for so many people.  That means everything you ever did, you almost didn’t do.”

How to Hang a Witch by Adriana Mather *review*

I absolutely loved How to Hang a  Witch and all its witchy goodness.  I wish I could reread it again for my first time and fall in love all over again.  A ghost and witch story that is on the same level of scare factor as Hocus Pocus, but just as wickedly fun.  I cannot wait to go out and grab Adriana’s next book and follow Samantha on her next journey.   4.5 out of 5 stars for me on this one!

“Almost everything worth believing in cannot be seen.  Love, for instance.”

Final Girls by Riley Sager *Review*

I received Final Girls as one of my picks for my September Book of the Month club box and was very excited!  This book had been getting rave reviews and I was ready for a fun slasher.  While it ended up being more of a psychological thriller I still rated this book 3.5/5 stars (rounded to 4 on my Goodreads) and enjoyed it a bit more than I thought I would considering I usually dislike psych thrillers.  With twists I didn’t predict and creepy flash backs making me feel like I was in a horror movie, this book was a perfect start to my Fall TBR.

Things I’m Seeing Without You by Peter Bognanni *Review*

I rate this young adult story 2 out of 5 stars.  Thank you so much Penguin Teen for sending this book to me in exchange for an honest review.

I was incredibly excited for this book.  As someone who suffers from severe depression I like to read books that focus on mental illness or have story lines relating to it.  I went into this book expecting something completely different from what it ended up being.  Unfortunately, after some thought, I was mostly just disappointed in a book that had great potential.

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins *Review*

Thank you so much PenguinTeen for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review!  I am stuck between a 3.5 or 4 star rating.  So on my Goodreads I have it rounded to 4 Stars!

I had a really fun time reading this book and I won’t lie when I say I jumped a little that night after I finished reading, worried there was someone lurking around.  You know when Halloween time starts to roll around and you just want to sit and watch some slasher movie that isn’t the worlds best, but it is just so perfect for the time and mood?  Thats exactly how I would describe Stephanie Perkins’ newest novel.  A high school slasher with your average dose of romance and sex and tons of gory bits to keep you on edge.  While the exact reason behind the killings and some of the “secrets” leave a little to be desired, the overall experience was fun and well worth it.   I soaked in this bloody, thrilling read in a day and I enjoyed every second of it.

Wonder Woman Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo *Review*

I really, reallyyyy enjoyed this book.  And while I would love to give it 5 stars on principle because it’s WONDER WOMAN, I have to stick with 4 stars, which still means I REALLY LIKED IT, how could you not?  Badass females, diversity, humor, greek mythology, adventure and action, yes please! But, I wasn’t left feeling blown away and there was one thing I was a bit iffy on, but *shrug* this book is still amazing and you are crazy if you don’t pick this one up!
